Cape Coast to Host 12th COESA National Sports Festival from 1st to 8th October, 2025

Preparations are underway for the much-anticipated 12th Biennial National Sports Festival of the Colleges of Education Sports Association (COESA), scheduled to take place from 1st to 8th October 2025 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

This year’s festival is being held under the theme: “Promoting National Unity and Excellence through Sports: The Role of Teacher Trainees.” The event aims to highlight how teacher trainees, as future educators, can contribute to national cohesion and development through active participation in sports.

The festival will be chaired by the Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, who is expected to deliver the keynote address. Other high-profile personalities billed to grace the occasion include Hon. Kofi Adams, Guest Speaker, and Prof. Samuel Atintono, Principal of Accra College of Education.

According to the organizers, the festival will feature a variety of competitive sporting disciplines such as soccer, volleyball, table tennis, netball, handball, athletics, and cross country. The events are expected to draw participation from teacher trainees across the country’s colleges of education, offering a platform for talent discovery and youth development.

In a statement, the leadership of COESA emphasized the importance of the festival in not only promoting physical fitness and sporting excellence but also fostering unity, discipline, and leadership qualities among teacher trainees.

The week-long sporting extravaganza is set to attract government officials, education stakeholders, sports enthusiasts, and the general public to Cape Coast, as Ghana looks forward to another memorable celebration of sportsmanship and national unity.
