GOVERNING COUNCIL OF NAKPANDURI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION SWORN-IN

The newly appointed Interim Governing Council of Nakpanduri College of Education (NACE) was officially sworn into office on Monday, 20th April 2026, in a brief but significant ceremony held in the Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri District of the North East Region.

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), Prof. Abdulai Ahmed Jinapo, who charged members of the council to uphold integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to academic excellence in the discharge of their duties.

He emphasized the critical role governing councils play in shaping the vision, policy direction, and overall development of tertiary institutions in Ghana.

The event was graced by the Member of Parliament of the area Hon. Dr. Abed Lamangin Bandim. The District Chief Executive for Bunkpurugu-Nakpanduri District, Hon. Joseph Ali Lachir, Hon. Samson Dakonnam Konlan- Constituency Chairman; Hon James Jinjong -Secretary of the Constituency, Hon. Baidu Piam- Women Organiser of the constituency, Hon. Thomas Likiteinkua- Constituency Organiser and several other members from the area including Chiefs and Queen mother’s whose presence underscored the importance of the college to the district’s educational and socio-economic development.

He expressed confidence in the newly constituted council and assured them of the Assembly’s continued support.

The Interim Governing Council is composed of distinguished individuals drawn from diverse professional and community backgrounds, reflecting a balance of academic, administrative, legal, and traditional leadership experience.

The members are as follows:

Chairperson – Rev. Baba Alhassan-(Reg Superintendent of AG Church and Head Pastor of Nakpanduri)

Principal – Emmanuel Alhassan (Former Vice-Principal BATCO)

Representative of Directors – Mama Comfort Kona (Former Principal College of Community Health Nursing Tamale)

Representative of Proprietor – Labik Kombian (Educationist)

Representative of Traditional Rulers (1)

Education Expert – Regional Director of Education, North East Region

Legal Expert – Solomon .B. Damtar, Esq.

Representative of Convocation – Dinah Akantagriwon

Representative of Non-Teaching Staff – Amadu Timothy (Educationist)

In his remarks, the Chairperson, Rev. Baba Alhassan, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in the council and pledged that members would work collectively to advance the growth and transformation of the college into a center of excellence for teacher education.

The ceremony marks a significant step in strengthening governance structures at Nakpanduri College of Education, with expectations high that the new council will provide strategic leadership to enhance academic standards and infrastructure development.
