The Honourable Minister of Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrissu on Monday, May 11, 2026, commissioned newly completed office complexes of the National Teaching Council in Kumasi and Tamale as part of efforts to strengthen teacher regulation and improve educational administration across the country. The Tamale office shares boundaries with the regional education office, Sagnarigu fire service office and Tamale senior high school.

The commissioning ceremony brought together officials from the Ministry of Education and the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, officials from Ghana Education Service, representatives of teacher unions, the clergy, traditional authorities, education stakeholders and staff of the Council.

Speaking at the events, the Minister described the new facilities as a major milestone in the government’s commitment to enhancing the operations of the Council and improving service delivery to teachers nationwide.

He noted that the decentralisation of the Council’s activities requires modern office infrastructure to effectively coordinate teacher licensing, registration, professional development and disciplinary processes.

The Minister commended the leadership and staff of the Council for their dedication towards promoting teacher professionalism and maintaining standards in the teaching profession. He reiterated the government’s resolve to continue investing in education and teacher development to ensure quality learning outcomes for Ghanaian children.

The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Council, Mr. Kwami Alorvi, together with regional education stakeholders, expressed appreciation to the government for the support and indicated that the new office complexes would help improve accessibility and efficiency in the Council’s operations within the northern and middle belts of the country.

The ceremonies ended with tours of the facilities and interactions with staff and invited guests.
