The 2004-year group of the Tamale College of Education (TACE) has donated sewing machines to their Alma Mater as part of activities to commemorated 20 years since their graduation from the institution.
The donation, which took place at the college’s premises on Friday February 21, 2025, was aimed at enhancing practical teaching and learning in the Vocational and Technical Education department.
The items donated included: five hand-sewing machines, one electric sewing machine, and one industrial sewing machine.
The event was attended by the principal of the college, staff, continuing students, and members of the media.
Speaking at the ceremony, a representative of the 2004-year group, Mr. Ibrahim Nantomah, stated that the gesture was not only a token of appreciation to the college for what it has done in their lives, but also a commitment to supporting the college in equipping students with essential skills for their future careers.
“This donation is more than just a gesture; it is a symbol of our dedication to giving back to the community that nurtured us. We hope that these machines will serve as valuable tools for students to develop their skills and pursue their passions,” he said.
He also expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the institution that played a pivotal role in shaping their professional and personal lives.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we remember the tutors who guided us, some of whom are still present, others have retired, and some have passed on” he stated
“We also acknowledge the non-teaching staff who made our stay at the college worthwhile” Mr. Nantomah added.
The 2004-year group also took the opportunity to encourage current students to take their studies seriously and to always remember their alma mater after graduation. They urged other alumni groups to come together and support various needs of the college.
The Principal of Tamale College of Education, Dr. Sulemana Iddrisu, upon receiving the donation, expressed profound appreciation for the donation, describing it as a significant contribution to improving vocational and technical education at the institution. He assured that the machines would be put to good use and benefit many students in the years to come.
He also used the occasion to call for continuous alumni engagement and support for the college’s development.
