SPECIAL APPEAL TO MPs, DCEs, AND OPINION LEADERS IN THE KUSAUG TRADITIONAL AREA BY GBEWAA COLLEGE OF EDUCATION IN PUSIGA

Honourable Members of Parliament within the six districts of the Kusaug Traditional Area, respected District Chief Executives, distinguished opinion leaders, traditional authorities, members of the media, and fellow citizens,

I bring you warm greetings from the Students’ Representative Council of Gbewaa College of Education. I stand before you today not only as a student leader but also as a voice for hundreds of students committed to education, discipline, and the pursuit of academic excellence under very challenging conditions.

We wish to sincerely acknowledge the continuous efforts of the government and stakeholders in supporting teacher education in Ghana. However, we are compelled by circumstance to draw your urgent attention to the pressing infrastructural challenges confronting our college, which affect both teaching and learning.

At Gbewaa College of Education, we continue to face serious difficulties, particularly in the areas of inadequate access to portable water, insufficient ceiling fans in lecture halls and residential facilities, and a shortage of marker boards and instructional materials in classrooms. These conditions make teaching and learning very uncomfortable, especially during hot weather conditions, and sometimes affect concentration and academic productivity.

Additionally, our college reservoirs, which serve as a key source of water storage and supply, are in need of urgent renovation to improve water availability and reliability for students and staff.

It is in light of these challenges that we respectfully appeal to all Honourable Members of Parliament in the six districts of the Kusaug Traditional Area, together with District Chief Executives and all opinion leaders, to come to our aid. We are calling for support in the form of:

1. a) Donation of ceiling fans for lecture halls and residential facilities
2. b) Provision of marker boards and teaching materials for classrooms
3. c) Financial support or assistance towards the renovation of our college water reservoirs
4. d) Any other form of support that will improve the welfare and learning conditions of students.

We believe that education is the foundation of development, and no meaningful academic work can thrive in an uncomfortable environment. Supporting Gbewaa College of Education is not just an investment in students but an investment in the future of education within the Kusaug Traditional Area and Ghana as a whole.

We are therefore humbly appealing to your sense of responsibility, leadership, and commitment to education to urgently intervene and support us in addressing these challenges.
